How to implement ASAP 8?
Did you know the SAP ASAP implementation methodology has been around for almost 20 plus years? It has been used successfully to drive the implementation of SAP projects across all industry sectors. With so many projects implemented using this tried and proven approach, SAP has been able to extend the methodology to drive further innovation via their Rapid Deployment Solution or RDS. The SAP ASAP RDS allows you to assemble your project in well-ordered building blocks, which reduces risks. For SAP ASAP 8, there are 5 defined implementation methodologies. This creates a problem - which one should we choose and how can we implement it successfully?
Let’s first compare between the Standard Methodology and the RDS/Assemble-To-Order Methodology.

So now you get two strategies to implement your project; you should choose an appropriate implementation approach according to your specific business scenario. Each methodology has its own pros and cons,
- Standard: Duration of the project will be long and consultants have time and a chance to make changes and correct the drawbacks based on the previous module.
- RDS: Rapid process and lesser timeframe (comparatively);
- Standard: Lingering implementation, could take long time; Consultants not familiar with business process and user cannot review leading project to a wrong way.
- RDS: Risk of all modules being implemented at one go, could lead to encountering of lots of changes to both system and processes.
